Find Collapsable Items

As someone who loves RV travel, I've discovered a fantastic way to save space in my kitchen – using collapsible items!

These are items that can be folded or collapsed to a smaller size, which is a real lifesaver when it comes to storage space.

Collapsible mixing bowls, colanders, and strainers are my go-to kitchen tools because they can be compacted to a fraction of their original size, freeing up valuable cabinet and countertop space.

Plus, they're usually made of lightweight materials that are perfect for RV travel. I can't tell you how much easier it is to prepare meals with collapsible items – I can have all the tools I need without worrying about taking up too much storage space. And when it's time to pack up and hit the road, collapsible items are a breeze to store and transport.

In my opinion, using collapsible items in your RV kitchen is a smart way to maximize space and make your RV travels more enjoyable

Use Nesting Pots & Pans

Counter space is always in high demand in most RVs, so make the most of it by investing in nesting pots and pans. They come with handles that collapse together for easy storage, freeing up precious counter space when you're not cooking.

These sets come with multiple pots and pans that are designed to fit neatly inside one another, taking up minimal storage space. I love how they allow me to store a variety of cookware without having to sacrifice cabinet or counter space.

Spice Rack

One of the best ways to store spices in your kitchen is with a spice rack. These can limit the amount of space needed to store your spices and having all my spices easily accessible means I can quickly and easily find the ingredients I need for my favorite meals, making cooking on the road a breeze.

Mounted Paper Towel Holder

Another RV kitchen storage hack is to mount your paper towel holder instead of having it sit on your counter.

This provides much needed space on your counters but you'll be forced to sacrifice some wall space in exchange.

RV Refrigerator Storage Containers

Refrigerator storage containers are a great way to save space in your RV's fridge and keep your food organized.

These containers come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and can be stacked on top of each other, maximizing your fridge space. They are also great for storing leftovers and keeping them fresh for longer.

By using refrigerator storage containers, you can easily see what you have on hand and avoid wasting space and food.

Use Hooks for Towels

I can't stress enough how important using vertical storage space is for storage in an RV and hooks are an easy and affordable way to do this.

Hooks are a versatile and functional solution for storing items like hats, jackets, and towels. By using hooks, I can conserve precious closet and drawer space and make use of the vertical wall and door space in my RV. This enables me to optimize my RV storage capacity, making room for other essential items. Additionally, hooks are easy to install and come in various sizes and shapes, making them adaptable to different storage needs.

Hang a Collapsible Laundry Rack

Using a collapsible clothes drying rack is an excellent way to save space in a small RV bathroom. A collapsible laundry rack is a space-efficient and unobtrusive device that provides a convenient location for drying damp clothes. This is especially beneficial when traveling in an RV, where traditional drying methods may not be possible.

A collapsible laundry rack can help prevent the accumulation of clothing on furniture and floors – yes please! And, a laundry rack has versatile uses beyond drying clothes. It can function as a temporary storage area for damp towels or muddy shoes. When not in use, the rack can be collapsed and effortlessly stowed away in a closet or storage compartment. If you don't own a collapsable laundry rack yet, I highly recommend checking them out!

Mounted Soap Dispensers

Mounted soap dispensers are a great space-saving solution for any RV bathroom or kitchen.

These dispensers can be easily mounted on the wall, freeing up valuable counter or sink space. I love how they also eliminate the need for multiple bottles cluttering up the counter or shower, keeping the space tidy and organized. Plus, mounted soap dispensers are available in a range of styles and sizes, making it easy to find one that fits your RV decor and needs.

Under Sink Organizer

Under sink organizers are great for both RV kitchen organization as well as bathroom storage.

These organizers typically feature multiple shelves and compartments, making it easy to store and organize everything from cleaning supplies to toiletries. I love how they make it easy to access all my bathroom or kitchen essentials, while keeping the space tidy and clutter-free.

By using under sink organizers, you can make the most of the limited space in your RV, while still having everything you need at your fingertips. Not to mention how affordable these organizers are.

RV Shower Caddy

(Source: Reddit)

Your RV shower is probably the smallest area in your entire RV or travel trailer. By using a shower caddy, you can maximize this small space and keep it organized.

A shower caddy is an affordable way to store all your bathroom essentials in one convenient place, making it easy to access and store items like shampoo, soap, toothpaste and razors. I love how shower caddies can be hung on the wall or hung from the shower head. This is a great way to free up counter space, while still keeping all your bathroom essentials within arm's reach.

Bedroom Storage Ideas

Use a Shoe Organizer

Shoes can be pesky when it comes to storage, but an over-the-door shoe organizer can be an invaluable tool for RVers.

Shoe organizers have multiple pockets that can accommodate small items such as toiletries, snacks, and cleaning supplies, making them an excellent option for organizing items that often clutter drawers and cabinets. When hung on a wall or door, they create an easily accessible and practical storage solution. Moreover, shoe organizers can double as a shoe rack, which frees up valuable closet or floor space for other essential items in your RV. What's not to love?

Vacuum Bag Clothes

With limited space, vacuum bags can make all the difference in organizing your RV and maximizing your storage spaces. These bags will compress and seal clothes, bedding, and blankets so that you can quickly store them in tight spaces.

They work by removing large amounts of air from bulky items such as clothing, bedding, and pillows, reducing their size and creating more storage space. You may not think this is a big deal, but it can save so much space.

By using vacuum bags, I can store more items in my RV without taking up valuable storage space. Additionally, vacuum bags protect items from moisture, dust, and insects while also keeping them organized.

Utilize Underneath Storage

Another creative way to find extra storage is by utilizing the space underneath your furniture. You can purchase storage containers that fit under just about anything.

These containers are perfect for taking advantage of the often-unused space under your RV's furniture, like beds or sofas. They're especially great for storing items you don't use every day, but still need to keep on board, like extra bedding, seasonal clothing, or outdoor gear. I love how these containers come in different sizes, so you can find the perfect fit for your storage needs.

Personally, the best place I had found for these extra storage containers, as mentioned earlier, is underneath the bed. There is typically a large volume of space hidden away underneath your RV mattress that is empty and completely wasted space. While some might think the lower tier RV's have less space and might not have large beds, even the smaller mattress sizes in Winnebagos, for example, are typically around 60 inches by 80 inches. This leaves ample space to measure out and squeeze a few storage containers under your mattress for lesser-used items.

Since I started using underneath storage containers in my RV, I've been able to free up tons of storage space and keep my RV organized and clutter-free. Trust me, these containers are a game-changer for any RV traveler!

When it comes to RV life, the bedroom is often one of the smaller areas you have. Not every RV will feature a bedroom closet space, but if it does – you need to use it effectively to maximize your space.

These racks can hold clothes and can be easily mounted on the wall or the back of a door, making them a convenient way to keep your clothes organized and accessible.

Common Area RV Storage Ideas

Wall Mounts

When it comes to RV organization, wall mounts are a great way to take advantage of the existing vertical space in your vehicle. You can install shelves or baskets for items like camping gear, books, and more.

Items like Command hooks make hanging items on your walls super easy and they don't cause any permanent damage to your walls

Drawer Organizers

Drawer organizers are a must-have for any RV owner looking to save space and keep their belongings organized.

These organizers come in a variety of sizes and shapes, and can be easily fitted into any drawer, making it easy to store and find items.

With drawer organizers, you can keep everything from utensils to clothing accessories neatly arranged, making it easy to find what you need when you need it.

Tips to Keep Your RV Clutter Free

RV Storage Hacks

Use Vertical Space

Vertical space is a no brainer when it comes to maximizing the space in your RV. This space is often overlooked but provides some of the most efficient storage solutions.

Instead of stacking items horizontally, use shelves, or other wall-mounted options to take full advantage of all the vertical space available.

Set Aside Time for Cleaning and Organizing

There's no denying it can be easy to overlook cleaning and organizing when you're out on the road. But this is how your space can easily become cluttered.

Be sure to allocate some time each day to tidy up and put items back in their place. This will help you maintain an organized RV storage system for the remainder of your trip.

Be Methodical and Creative with Storage

It's easy to just throw some items in a drawer and call it a day, but being methodical with how you use your storage space can help you make the most of it.

Label drawers and shelves so you can easily find what you need. Keep items that are used together grouped together, so you don't have to search for them when you need them.

Use Multi-Purpose Items

I loveeee items that are multi-purpose. Instead of a single use item, look for items that can be used in multiple ways.

For example, an ottoman with a storage compartment is great for storing extra blankets and pillows or toys and games. These will save you space while also providing an additional seating option.
